What will the students learn?

The different steps of the Workshop allow students to connect fundamental physics concepts with real-world aerospace engineering applications by designing, building, and launching their own small rockets.

Introductory Theory

Explore the fundamental principles of flight, including aerodynamic stability, centre of gravity, and trajectory.

Hands-on Engineering

Organized in teams, students work together to build and customize their own rocket.

Launch

Moment of truth! The rockets are launched safely outdoors, allowing students to see the principles they learned come to life.

Activity Details

This activity is perfect for those who want to get hands-on.

Duration:approximately 3h + 30 min for the launch phase.

Audience:ideally suited for 10th and 11th-grade Physics-Chemistry students, or 12th-grade Physics. Adaptable to other educational levels upon request, as well to other audiences, including associations, educational events, and science initiatives.

Location:usually held at schools or at the Instituto Superior Técnico campus.

Requirements:a classroom equipped with a projector and a large, safe outdoor area for rocket launches.
